Another Big Round of Layoffs Across the Tech Industry Is Going On (And Coming)

  • 2 min read

It seems almost everyone is laying off workers in tech.

I love all those social media posts where people share how much money you can make as an AI expert at Netflix.

As an AI expert you can make, can you fill in the blank?, $900,000.

That’s why my father told my husband, who is a software dev (as if this was the same as an AI expert): “You don’t need to worry about money anymore!”

I think the opposite is the case.

The mood in the tech world is bleak.

Almost everyone is laying people off — and we’re talking about international companies, meaning you can laid off whether you’re in America or somewhere in Europe.

We’re all in this together.

Let me show you who kicked off the year by laying off people:

  • Alphabet is laying off more than 1,000 workers.
  • Twitch will lay off 1,000 workers.
  • Discord will lay off 170 workers.
  • Google is laying off most of its virtual reality team.
  • Amazon is cutting jobs in the Prime Video team.

See?

I wonder who will announce tech layoffs next!
