Buy A Virtual Coffee For Your Favourite Writer

  • 4 min read

and open your own coffee club because a coffee a day keeps the grumpy away

To give a writer who has provided you with an inspiring article an extra amount of cash to thank them is lovely, isn’t it?

Unfortunately, Medium doesn’t offer a tip jar — yet.

But did you know you can open a coffee shop where your readers can support you with a virtual cup of coffee?

Yesterday evening, I set up my Ko-Fi account.

It looks like this:

And here’s the link to my Ko-Fi account where you could be the first to buy me a virtual coffee for $5.

It would mean the world to me, guys!

As a working mom, I love my daily latte macchiato with coconut milk. ☕

Ko-fi vs. Buy me a Coffee

A coffee shop is s meaningful way to fund your creative work.

If you want to create your own coffee shop too, I want to give you a quick overview of the two alternatives.

Just within a few minutes, you can create a Ko-fi and/or Buy me a coffee account by simply typing in your name.

Buy Me A Coffee

  • It’s free to use but takes a 5% transaction fee on every donation.
  • PayPal will no longer be available as paying method.
  • You can embed a link to your profile page where you can accept donations in your Medium stories, for instance at the bottom of your articles.
  • Creators can also set up monthly subscription plans and set up tiers for different levels of paying supporters.

☕I love both coffee shops. The support warms a writer’s heart. ☕

You can make $500+ per year extra cash.

My bootcamper T Mann asked me how much money one can earn per year.

Let’s take Patrick God as an example.

My husband is a software developer, part-time Udemy instructor with 63,000 students, and YouTuber with around 7K followers.

He teaches code in a simple and fun way.

In 2021, he set up his Buy Me A Coffee account and received coffee worth over $600+ for his valuable programming tutorials.

Final Takeaway: Showing support warms my heart

I believe that true fans, loyal readers, and writers want to support each other.

I wonder:

Will you be one of the first supporters to warm my heart?

Here’s my gift for joining my virtual coffee club:

I’ll feature the first 5 supporters and their work in my Online Writing 101 publication and the first supporter will get a special surprise.

Many thanks in advance.
