Do You Know What’s People’s Number One Fear?

  • 1 min read

Spoiler: It’s not death. Death is number two.

Does public speaking give you anxiety?

Well, you’re not alone. Actually, you’re in good company.

I learned that according to studies, people’s number two fear is death.

Number one is public speaking!

This means that people would rather attend a funeral than speak publicly.

That’s crazy, isn’t it?

Still, it’s so relatable.

When I had to give my first presentation in front of hundreds of people, it made me really nervous.

7 years later, I’m used to it.

From public speaking guru Mike Pacchione I learned:

  • The opening line is the most powerful part of your speech
  • Be vulnerable and tell your audience about traps, failures, and mistakes
  • Use anecdotes to build a deeper connection with your audience
  • The closing statement should be planned and not a Q&A

Hint: These valuable storytelling tips are also crucial for the written word 🧐
