Gangsta’s Paradise Singer and Songwriter Coolio Is Dead

  • 1 min read

Rest in paradise

I’m a 90s girl.

That’s why I really love Coolio’s song “Gangsta’s Paradise”.

This song really tells a story.

When I listen to the opening lyrics, I always get chills:

“As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death/ I take a look at my life and realize there’s nothin’ left/ ’cause I’ve been blastin’ and laughin’ so long that/ even my mama thinks that my mind is gone.”

First I wondered why “Gangsta’s Paradise” was trending on Twitter

… then I saw the sad news.

Unfortunately, the grammy-winning musician passed away at 59 years.

In 1995, the hip hop star Coolio (real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr) wrote the song for the movie “Dangerous Minds” with Michelle Pfeiffer and won a Grammy for best solo rap performance.

Rest in paradise, Coolio!
