I Googled “The Last of Us” — Here’s What Happened

  • 1 min read

It’s a fungal Easter egg that’s creepy and cool at the same time.

Many people love watching HBO’s post-apocalyptic show “The Last of Us”.

My husband is a raving fan too.

He loved the video game and is impressed by the adaptation for TV.

The other day I googled “The Last of Us” and found… an Easter egg.

Google surprises us with a red mushroom button. These pop up at the bottom of the screen.

Once you click it, your screen fills with fungus.

The more you click it, the more fungus spores appear.

It’s the parasitic Cordyceps fungus that can take the body of its host.

Super creepy for me but a really cool surprise for every true fan.

My hubby almost jumped out of his skin excited when I showed him this fungal Easter egg. As a gamer, he loves Easter eggs in games and on Google.

Oh, searching for “Cordyceps” on Google also gives you a red mushroom button!
