Sorry, Your Story Isn’t The Taj Mahal

  • 2 min read

It’s not a masterpiece.

Here is one common and big mistake most (new) writers make:

It’s thinking that the story you’re writing is the end-all, be-all. That it has to be the Taj Mahal of all stories on Medium.

That’s not true at all.

I suppose you know India’s most famous and widely recognized building — the Taj Mahal.

Taj Mahal

Here are some fun facts:

  • 1,000 elephants transported the materials.
  • It was built by 22,000 people.

And, hey, this one is for you…

  • It took 17 years to complete it.

The immense mausoleum of white marble is a masterpiece.

Here’s what you need to know.

Your story doesn’t have to be perfect, because it’s not ever going to be perfect.

The secret is to improve your writing each time you create a new story.

Believe me. You’re going to be better at how you show up each time!
