Why Can’t He Say “I Love You”?

  • 1 min read

…without this double negative.

I love you.💖

Those three words are the most powerful words in the world.

For me, they mean a lot.

I say “I Love You” to my husband and my toddler several times per day.

When I recently visited my father I wondered:

When has my father ever said — off his own bat — that he loves me?

At least he says something like that:

It’s not that I don’t love you, it’s not like that!

To be honest I hate this double negative. It really hurts.

Because that ‘not’ is the only word I remember.

From Jay Shetty (author of Think Like A Monk) I learned that sometimes people use different “love” languages to express if or how they love someone.

Since my father sometimes gives me little gifts, I wonder if this is his way of showing me that he loves me. 💖
