Why I Don’t Believe in “Hustle Porn” Anymore

  • 3 min read

It’s not sexy at all.

No worries.

This article isn’t about XXX-rated material and adult content.

We all stay fully clothed — as this maths teacher on Pornhub:

This story is about the so-called “hustle porn“.

A friend from NYC used this expression yesterday when he was talking about his online business… and I was like:

Wait? What’s that?

According to Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian…

“hustle porn”= he fetishization of people — particularly entrepreneurs or employees in the tech industry — overworking themselves.

(Interview with Inc Magazin)

Meaning, that you need to hustle your ass off to be successful.

To be honest, when my friend said this about building a thriving online business it did not sit right with me.

It’s not that this philosophy is wrong.

But my belief is that we can design a business online so that we can live the life we truly want.

I don’t want my life all about the hustle.

I want to be spending quality time with my loved ones.

I want to breathe the salty air, go surfing, and enjoy my life.

Of course, I’m willing to work for this goal.

But I’m not willing to sacrifice my sleep, my family, my marriage, and so on anymore.

Because I used to be this type of person in the corporate world — before I had my kid.

Somehow I want to be an anti-hustler.

The hustle mentality just doesn’t resonate with me anymore.

As mentioned before, my belief is that I can design a business so that I can live the life I truly want.

This is my life right now:

  • 🤙I left everything behind and moved to an island.
  • 🤙I work remotely.
  • 🤙 I grow my online business — am a Top Writer on Medium, host a Boot Camp, and am an online course instructor.
  • 🤙I enjoy a lot of quality time with my son because I’m the main caregiver.
  • 🤙I enjoy walking along the beach with my husband holding hands and talking about our online business.

Bottom Line

With this article, I don’t want to say that “hustle porn” is right or wrong

It used to be right for me in my 9–5 job.

I climbed the career ladder from an assistant to a manager.

This philosophy changed when I gave birth to my baby boy.

I got clarity about what I really want and what my priorities are.

I don’t regret that I worked my ass off for years.

This is part of my story and my DNA as an online entrepreneur and side hustler.

Now everything I do revolves around my anti-hustle faith and vision, which I find much healthier.

What do you think about the hustle porn philosophy?
